Theresa B. Welch

AUBURN — Theresa B. Welch, 97, of 440 Minot Ave., formerly of Schooner Estates, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, at Clover Manor.

She was born in Lewiston, Oct. 17, 1915, daughter of the late Stanley L. and Philomene Eva Roux Bassett. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1933 and later graduated from Bliss Business College. Theresa was married in October 1960 to Wayne N. Welch, who predeceased her Jan. 29, 2004.

She was employed at WCOU Radio Station in 1939, then was an executive secretary for many years at Bates Manufacturing. Theresa later worked for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union office, until her retirement.

She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church, where she was a member of the Golden Age Club and for nine years organized senior trips for them. She also enjoyed dancing and her travels to Switzerland.

She is survived by two nieces, Nancy A. St. Pierre and husband, Paul, of Lewiston and Patricia Ankers and husband, Harry, of California; a grandniece, Mary Cote and husband, Daryl and their children, (great-grandnieces) Anna Marie Cote and Amy Lynne Cote; a grandnephew, Alex Ankers; a special and faithful friend, Esther Hanscome of Mechanic Falls; and friends, Richard Davenport of Auburn and Nancy McKinley of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her husband; a sister, Mildred Fortin; and a grandnephew, William St. Pierre.
