LEWISTON — Matthew John Thompson, 34, of Poland, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston, Nov. 22, 1978, the son of Lloyd and Sandra Byers Thompson. He attended Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls and graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn. He married Tina Deschene.
He had been employed at Hi – Tech Sprinkler Systems, retiring due to ill health. He enjoyed playing football during his school years. Later he enjoyed fishing and camping; he was an outdoor guy.
He is survived by his wife of Poland; his mother and stepfather, Sandra and Robert Austin of Poland; a sister, Tonya Thompson Fons and her husband, Brian, of Auburn; a brother, Dale; a daughter, Maize Farr of Lewiston; two nieces, Katya and Dasha Fons; two nephews, Anthony and Austin Beauchamp; uncles and cousins; his in-laws, Dennis and Marjorie Deschene; a stepson, William Deschene; a stepdaughter, Sarah Butterworth; and his best friend, Darren Nichols.
He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd Thompson.
