Una Waldron Nay

LIVERMORE FALLS — Una Waldron Nay, 87, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Monday, Jan. 7, at her daughter’s home on Highland Avenue, Livermore Falls.

Una Waldron Nay

She was born April 16, 1925, in Mechanic Falls, the daughter of Elmer and Beulah (Waldron) Strout. She was a graduate of Mechanic Falls High School.

On June 25, 1947, she married the love of her life, Frank H. Nay. Prior to their marriage, they worked together building their log cabin on North Street in Mechanic Falls. In the evening, they would work by candlelight. Una worked at some of the shoe shops in the area and later as a retail clerk at Bradley’s in Lewiston. Una was a past matron and lifetime member of the Dwinal Chapter 28 Order of the Eastern Star in Mechanic Falls. She and Frank enjoyed 40 lovely years together before he passed away Dec. 4, 1987.

Following her husband’s death, she moved to Tennessee, and lived there from 2002 to 2011 when she returned to Maine to stay with her daughter. She enjoyed square dancing, knitting, camping and long road trips. Una loved people and enjoyed helping any way she could.

She was the type of person to give you the shirt right off her back if you needed it. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Una will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Berry and her husband, Robert, of Livermore Falls; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
