Angelo P. Cocca

RUMFORD — Angelo P. Cocca, 92, of Rumford, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Rumford Hospital.

He was born in Rumford, July 29, 1920, the son of Marco and Cecelia (Filarmonica) Cocca and he had attended schools in Rumford. During World War II, he served as a private first class U.S. Army, Battery B 410th Artillery Battalion including the European African Middle Eastern Theater.

He was a mill worker for more than 40 years and retired as a floor truck operator in 1982, from Boise Cascade Paper Co. in Rumford.

He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church, a member of Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion, Robert Shand Post 1641 and VFW and Gorizia Lodge 467, Sons of Italy.

He was married in Rumford, June 17, 1944, to Rita A Doirion, who died May 16, 1999 in Rumford.

Survivors include sons, Peter Cocca and wife, Kim, of Rumford and David Cocca and wife, Terry, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; grandchildren, Jesse Cocca of Rumford, Paul Sullivan of Portland and Jennifer and Angela Cocca of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Pelletier of Rumford, Tyler Cocca of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Evan Breau of Rumford.

He was predeceased by his sister, Dora DeSalle; and three brothers, Jimmy Cook, Tony Cook and Michael Cocca.
