AUBURN — Fernand Marcel Larochelle Sr., 74, of Lisbon Falls, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, at the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice House while his family was by his side.

He was born on July 30, 1938, a son of the late Wilfred and Theresa (Dumais) Larochelle. He was raised in Lisbon, where he attended school. On Sept. 2, 1957, he married the love of his life, Louise Bergeron. They worked together at Cushman Shoe Shop. In 1963, he established his own auto body shop business. In 1967, he moved his business to 140 Main St., Lisbon Falls, behind his residence, where it is still being operated by his sons today.

Fern was a volunteer fireman for 17 years for the town of Lisbon Falls. He loved spending the summers at Allen Pond in Greene while his children were growing up. Then at Moosehead Lake, which he called his “Heaven on Earth,” he enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and fishing.

After he retired, he enjoyed keeping busy with many different projects including building furniture and other wood projects.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Louise; their five children, Irene Bonsaint and her husband, Ron, Marcel and his wife Jean, Venise Philbrick and her husband, Fred, Madeleine Hutchins and her husband, Eric and Fern Jr. and his fiancée, Connie Stessl; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Bert, Raymond and Paul; and a sister, Madeleine Schafer.

He was predeceased by a brother, Norman.
