AUBURN — Clifford Page Sr., 86, of Greene died Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Violet (Burbe) Page, who died in 1959.
He was born in Hamlin on July 18, 1926, a son of the late Joseph & Mary (Roy) Page. He grew up in Van Buren and married Violet on Feb. 18, 1946.
Clifford worked as a heavy equipment mechanic all of his working life, spending the final years before retiring in 1998 at Morrison & Sylvester Inc. in Auburn.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Auburn and Augusta as well as the Fraternal Oder of Eagles in Auburn. He greatly enjoyed beano as well as dancing.
He constantly would be on the lookout for a place to dance, including the Eagles where he would often take his daughter, Diane, and her husband and several singles clubs in the area.
He is survived by five children, Diane Michaud and her husband of Greene, Robert Page Sr. of Bangor, Mona Douglass and her husband, Ivan, of Greene, Muriel Page of Auburn and Clifford Page Jr. of Greene; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He also leaves four sisters, Joyce McClay of Bangor, Irene Burbe of Caribou, Mildred Lavasseur of New Jersey and Shirley Seal of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Ruth and Marleen Page and the brother of the late Aura St. Louis, Jeannette Raymond, Alma Lefadierre, Mona St. Louis and Lawrence Page.
