Thomas J. Soychak

PORTLAND — Thomas James Soychak, 73, from Lisbon Falls, passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior early Sunday morning, Jan. 13. He was welcomed into the heavens by his beloved wife, Barbara, brothers John and Joe, his father, John, and mother, Mary Pavelko Soychak.

Thomas J. Soychak

He was born Aug. 21, 1939, graduated Lisbon High School in 1957 and from the University of Maine in 1961, with a degree in chemical engineering. In his career, he traveled the world and lived in many states in the U.S. — London, Norway, Paris, Japan, Russia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Brazil, Florida, Illinois and settled down near Houston, Texas for the remainder of his life.

He leaves behind his two daughters, who adored him — Karen Meldrum and her husband, Mark, and Lauryn Reinoso and her husband, Kenny; and two grandchildren, Lindsay and Ryan, both from the Houston, Texas area. He also leaves behind his surviving family, brothers, Anthony Soychak, Frances Soychak and sister, Bernadette Stewart, who lovingly stayed by his bedside until the end. He also left many nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law, as he was the youngest of six — they all loved him very much and will miss him greatly.
