Richard James Picard

EDGEWATER, Fla. — Richard James Picard, 72, of Port Orange, Fla., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Volusia/Flagler Hospice, surrounded by his loving wife of 50 years and their daughter.

He was born in Freeport, March 21, 1940, the son of the late Lucien and Marie (Tanguay) Picard. Richard grew up in Lewiston, attended Lewiston schools and joined the Marine Corps in March 1957. He proudly served his country, until discharged in 1960. Shortly after returning home, he met the love of his life, Lorraine Obie and they married on May 5, 1962.

Richard owned and operated the L & A Bowlers Club (formerly Dick’s Cafe) in Lewiston, prior to moving to Deerfield Beach, Fla. in 1978. In Florida, Richard was a condo manager, before retiring due to an injury in 1998. In 2008, Richard and his wife moved to their dream retirement community at Crane Lakes in Port Orange, Fla.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Lorraine Obie Picard; son, Rick Picard of Pompano Beach, Fla.; daughter, Debbie Fox and her husband, Jay, of Ball Ground, Ga.; and two incredible grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Fox, both of Ball Ground, Ga.
