LEWISTON — Roy Stanley Johnson of Norway entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
He was born June 27, 1944, best known for his work at 97.2 WOXO and his love for radio could be seen through his on-air humor. Roy often spoke proudly of his experience in law-enforcement, working both as an officer of the Fryeburg Police Department and a correctional officer in a Massachusetts state prison.
Roy was a devoted husband to the late Diane Johnson and whenever he was not working, he made sure her happiness was his priority. He loved his family dearly and loved family gatherings. He loved the outdoors, Celtic music, traveling and any chance to show his mischievous side or to crack a wise joke.
Roy is survived by two sons, Andrew Johnson of Woodstock and Joshua Johnson and wife, Jill Johnson, of Auburn; two daughters, Deborah and husband, Michael Smith, of Windham, N.H., and Rebekah and husband, Jim Zeiba, of Derry, N.H.; also stepson, John Knox of Portland; Roy will be missed by multiple grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brother, Richard Johnson.
