NEW LONDON, CONN. — Anthony Gustave Sturgis, 70, passed away peacefully on Feb. 16, at his home in New London, Conn., with his wife by his side.
He was born on March 1, 1942, in Lewiston to Walter L. Sturgis Sr. and Beatrice McKenzie.
Anthony was a manager at Shapiro Shoe and also worked at Bonon Footwear Co., both in Auburn. He retired from General Dynamics in New London, Conn.
He enjoyed camping with his family, fishing, playing guitar and singing, as well as building model planes and ships.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Cindy Sturgis of New London, Conn.; his sister, Mary Hatt of Freeport; two sons, Ricky Sturgis and wife, Colleen, of Nashville, Tenn., and Michael Sturgis and companion, Terri Arsensault, of Oxford; a daughter, Donna Laliberte and husband, Richard, of Lewiston; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Anthony was predeceased by his father, Walter Sturgis Sr.; his mother, Beatrice McKenzie; and a brother, Walter Sturgis Jr.
Tony was loved and respected by his family and those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all.
