CASCO — Doris Pond, 97, formerly of Farmington, died on Friday, Feb. 22.
She was born in Limestone, Nov. 20, 1915. Doris moved to Farmington when she was 15. She married John F. Pond in August 1924. Doris raised his six children as her own in addition to the seven children they had together.
In 1969, John and Doris moved to Casco, where she resided until her health deteriorated. Her family was the "heartbeat" of her life.
Surviving are five sons, John Pond, Philip Gendreau and his wife, Beverly, Robert Pond, Burpey Pond and his wife, Nancy and Richard Pond and his wife, Sharon; four daughters, Madeline Kilponen, Virginia Kyes, Emma Reynolds and Constance Deering and her husband, Roland; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchildren.
Doris was predeceased by her husband in 1988; four children, William, Maurice, Geraldine and Gerald; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
