Oxford approves speedway gathering permits

OXFORD — Selectmen on Thursday approved mass gathering permits for Oxford Plains Speedway's 2012 season.

The season is set to begin with the May 20 opening day, and will end Sept. 30, according to a schedule submitted to the town. The TD Bank 250 is set for July 22.

There were no comments during the public hearing at the beginning of the meeting. Mass gatherings in Oxford require a permit, and may not exceed 15,000 attendees. The seating capacity for the TD Bank 250 is 14,250, according to the application submitted by Oxford Plains Speedway.
