HEBRON — A Woodstock woman was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital on Friday after her pickup truck flipped on Route 119.
Karla Lowe, 39, skidded on black ice, according to Trooper Kyle Tilsley of the Maine State Police. He said Lowe wasn't badly injured, but was hospitalized as a cautionary measure.
Tilsley said the combination of the fog and the cold Friday left patches of black ice on roads, causing several accidents in the state.
He said that at about 7:15 a.m., Lowe took a corner “a little too fast for a particular curve on a hill” near Hebron Academy in her 2008 Ford Ranger. She lost control, struck a tree and the vehicle rolled onto its roof.
Lowe was stuck in the car until responders could pry the truck open. “Because it was on its roof, they had issues getting the doors open,” Tilsley said. He said no other vehicles were involved.
