Oxford Fair directors seeking input from public

OXFORD — A meeting will be held next week to find out what Oxford County residents would like to see at the next Oxford Fair in 2013.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Oxford Town Office, 85 Pleasant St.

“The whole community is invited and we would like your input on the upcoming fair in 2013,” Oxford Fair President Jackie Young said. The purpose of the meeting to is get a better understanding of what the community liked or disliked about the Oxford Fair this past September in order to start planning for the 2013 fair.

The Oxford County Agricultural Society held a similar meeting last year.

The fair is held on the Oxford County Agricultural Society fairgrounds off Pottle Road.

Young said residents do not have to be a member to join in the discussion, but membership forms and information will be available for those interested.

Currently there are 70 to 80 members who pay a $10 annual fee and are allowed to attend membership meetings, the annual meeting and elect directors. Young said she hopes more people will become members.

Young said she hopes this year, the 2013 fair will have a concert, which she will probably discuss at the meting.

“I want the community to feel they're a part of it,” she said.
