PARIS — Town Manager Amy Bernard was appointed treasurer, tax collector and road commissioner Tuesday by the Board of Selectmen.
She started work at town manager Dec. 3 and on Tuesday gave her first update to the board.
The positions of treasurer, tax collector and road commissioner are part of the town manager's job description.
On Tuesday, several residents welcomed her and thanked her for emailing agendas and background information on the issues prior to the meeting.
The Rumford native was chosen out of more than 50 applicants for the job. She has signed a two-year contract with a starting salary of $53,000. Her salary will be increased to $55,000 on July 1, 2013, after a satisfactory review. Bernard is working part-time for the town until her employment as town manager in Wayne is finished next week.
On Tuesday, the board voted to give Bernard authority to accept or reject requests for adding or moving utility poles in town. She also advised the board against installing a requested street light on Turner Lane.
