Am I the only

Am I the only the that wonders how the price of gas can vary so much between one location and another? Most of the gas is sold by four large companies that own the stores where it is sold. The reason cannot be transportation in most cases. Is the overhead so much more in one area than another? A reasonable explanation from one of the distributers would be more than welcome.
