PARIS — A sex offender who pleaded guilty to failing to register with the state was sentenced Tuesday to one year in jail.
Nicholas D. Morin, 34, of West Paris, admitted to one count of violation of the sex offender registry. According to the Maine Sex Offender Registry, Morin was convicted of unlawful sexual contact against a victim under 14 years old at Androscoggin County Superior Court.
Morin was granted a stay of execution to his sentence because his grandfather is ill and Morin said he wants to spend time with him before reporting to jail. Morin must report to jail on Jan. 18.
