Students in Susan Coyne’s Telstar High School math class are helping develop the snow volcano in Bethel. Engineer Jim Sysko visited Telstar and gave a talk about how he has used math to design and build various engineering projects. The students decided to combine community service with the opportunity to experience “math in action.” The tunnel they helped dig will function as an air-intake to help ignite the "snowcano." Savannah Patenaude widens the entrance to the snow volcano in Bethel. The volcano will be touched off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, during Bethel's Winterfest celebration.
