Norway man charged with selling painkillers

WATERFORD — A Norway man was arrested and a Paris man cited after a Maine State Police trooper said he came upon a drug deal.

James C. Francis II, 23, of Frost Hill Road was arrested Wednesday night on one charge of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. On Thursday morning, he was released on $1,000 cash bail.

Maine State Police Trooper Joseph Bureau said he came upon a car on the side of the road near the intersection of Waterford and Chadbourne roads just after 9 p.m. Wednesday. He noted “a strong odor of marijuana” coming from the car. Inside, he found Francis and Seth Zupokfska, 21, of Paris.

Bureau said he searched the vehicle and found about 45 Vicodin pills, just over half an ounce of marijuana, a marijuana pipe and a small amount of cash. Bureau said Zupokfska admitted he was there to purchase the Vicodin pills from Francis.

Zupokfska was cited on a charge of possession of Schedule W drugs.

Francis was arrested and taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris.
