Rumford man charged with driving truck into Rumford garage

RUMFORD — A local man was arrested New Year's Day after police say he drove drunk into the side of Jake's Garage on Prospect Avenue.

Jeremy Dow, 22, was charged at 1:10 a.m. with operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a property-damage crash and felony aggravated criminal mischief. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail and will be arraigned Feb. 5 in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris.

According to the uncompleted report of Rumford police officer Donald Miller, Dow was driving a black 2002 Dodge pickup truck when it left the roadway, struck the garage and continued down the road.

As of Wednesday morning, officer Miller had not provided a damage estimate in his report for either Jake's Garage or Dow's pickup truck. No one answered the phone at the garage or the door, which was locked.

A pickup truck with a plow blocked the access road into the business lot closest to the damaged wall across from which stood a pile of stacked debris.
