Rumford man "lucky to be alive" after Jeep rolls on icy Route 2

Terry Karkos/Sun Journal

Gary Rumley, 57, of Rumford, escaped injury at about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of the 1995 Jeep he was driving west on icy Route 2, Rumford police Cpl. Lawrence Winson said. The Jeep went off the highway and onto a snowbank at 1106 Route 2, taking out a mailbox before spinning around facing east and flipping onto its roof. It came to rest in the westbound lane. "He's lucky to be alive," Winson said. Rumford firefighters provided traffic control and cleaned debris and fluids from the road. Traffic was halted for about 15 minutes while a Bisson & Hebert tow truck driver removed the Jeep.

Where

As I read this story, I thought to my self where did this vehicle roll over. I have no idea where 1106 Route 2 is. Being from that area years ago, I know what you are saying if the accident happened between Rumford and Peru or Rumford and South Rumford. But to write a story and say it happened at 1106 Route 2, where the resident and the Post Office are probably the only ones who know where this is, leaves a lot to be desired from a "News Paper".
