Rumford police investigate an accident involving a tractor-trailer truck on Route 2 near McDonald's in Rumford on Friday afternoon.

Ronald Bovin, 60, of Stark, N.H., suffered minor injuries to his shoulder when his loaded chip truck hit a guardrail, police officer Dave Hodgson said. Bovin was checked by Med-Care Ambulance personnel, Hodgson said.

Diane Farnum, 54, of Roxbury, drove her Subaru from Royal Avenue onto Route 2 at about 2:14 p.m. and didn't see the rig, which was headed to Jay, Hodgson said.

"Because of sun glare she didn't see the truck and pulled out in front of him," he said. "She was clipped in the back, spun around and was hit in the front."

Farnum was not hurt, he said. The car was wrecked and ended up in a snowbank.

The tractor-trailer owned by La Lumiere Trucking of Jefferson, N.H., was leaking fuel and had a damaged left front tire, Hodgson said.

Traffic on Route 2 was halted for a short time so the rig could be towed, Hodgson said.
