RUMFORD — The local Hope Association is teaming up with the National Wrestling Alliance to present a Wrestling On Fire event Saturday.
Catherine Johnson, Hope Association's executive director, said this is the first time she has been involved in entertainment like this.
Johnson said the alliance is looking for a place to hold an event in the area and she thinks she found the right place.
"They have held ones in the past at the Recreation Center in Mexico," Johnson said.
The Hope Association, at 85 Lincoln Ave. in the old armory building, renovated its gym three years ago and Johnson hopes it will be a perfect spot for the wrestling event.
"We will be selling concessions and allowing participants to take photos with the wrestlers for $5," she said.
A portion of the proceeds will also go to the Hope Association, which serves people with developmental disabilities.
The event will feature Tony Atlas, a World Wrestling Entertainment hall of famer, and Brian Fury, NWA on Fire champion.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 11. Reserved ringside seats are $12 in advance and $14 at the door. General admission is $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
Tickets may be purchased at the Hope Association's What Not Shop, Mountain Valley Variety, and the Barnboard Tavern.
