Richard G. Austin, 81, of Rumford stands with the four trophies he received in Las Vegas last Tuesday. Behind the trophies are photos from the Vegas event. Austin won his eighth world title in bench pressing and dead lifting, and broke the world record for contestants from ages 80-84. Austin said that while he enjoys the trophies and accolades, he knows that "records are meant to be broken and there's someone out there that will probably break his record in the future." Austin will compete next on Feb. 2 in Portland in the bench-press category.
