N.H. goes after Ossipee junkman

OSSIPEE, N.H. (AP) – The state is asking a judge to hit a junkyard owner in Ossipee with a $100,000 fine.

Roland Beaudry, 61, says he’s already spent $150,000 hauling old cars off his land. He says others keep dumping junk, including machine machines, on his property. He says drug rehab, depression and medication contributed to the problems.

Environmental Services lawyer Esther Piszczek warned a judge that he shouldn’t trust what Beaudry says. She asked for a $100,000 fine, saying insulation and other hazardous rubbish probably is in the junk.
