N.H. native to be part of ceremony

ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) -A Rochester native will play the trumpet Tuesday at the funeral of former President Gerald Ford.

U.S. Marine Master Sgt. Kurt Dupuis is the lead trumpeter for the U.S. Marine Band, also known as the “The President’s Own.”

Dupuis joined the band in 1992 after earning a bachelor’s degree from Boston University’s School of Fine Arts. He also played the trumpet at former President Ronald Reagan’s funeral in 2004.

“When you think about the history you’re part of, it’s pretty amazing,” he said. “It’s quite an honor to serve the country in this capacity.”
