FARMINGTON – RSU 9 has received nine applications for superintendent, Leanne Condon, assistant superintendent/director of curriculum, said Wednesday.
The deadline for a second wave of applications was Tuesday afternoon.
Superintendent Mike Cormier plans to retire at the end of the school year after 20 years.
Five applications were submitted in the first posting for the job in December 2012. The Administrator Evaluation Committee and other members of the search committee decided to readvertise to draw a larger pool of candidates.
“There are four completed applications,” said Condon, who serves on the committee. “This makes nine in all. We are pleased.”
Committee Chairman Robert Pullo of Wilton told school directors Tuesday night that the committee will screen applications Monday, Jan. 28, and Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Interviews will hopefully take place in early February, Condon said Wednesday.
The committee has set aside dates for interviews on Feb. 5, 6, 7 and 11 and, if necessary, on Feb. 14, Pullo told the board Jan. 8.
The committee and other members of the school board held meetings with staff members and the public as well as posting a survey on what they would like to see in a new superintendent.
An orientation session for those planning to be on one of three interview teams is Jan. 31, Director Claire Andrews of Farmington said previously. During the session, the 30 or so people on the interview teams will learn what questions they can and can not ask, she said.
