NEWRY — Sunday River has announced $3.5 million in capital improvements to be completed this year.
Darcy Liberty, communications director at the resort, said the development is designed to enhance the $14.2 million in capital improvements completed last year. Those projects included the installation of a Chondola lift, night skiing and more energy-efficient snow-making.
"The capital improvements that we're doing this year have a lot to do with the ones we did last year," she said.
The majority of the work will continue to focus on lift and snow-making work. These projects include new drive and low-voltage replacements for two ski lifts, new lift houses and load ramps, improved valve work and new snow-making hose.
Liberty said the resort has already completed improvements for two on-site hotels. These include the addition of new beds and 42-inch flat screen televisions to each room of the hotels.
Liberty said the work will be completed before the resort's 50th anniversary in December.
