An independent auditor recently conducted a thorough assessment of Gates' system and determined that it meets ISO 14001 specifications.

The International Standardization Organization is a collaborative network of standards institutes worldwide. According to the ISO, the 14001 standard applies to environmental aspects over which an organization has control and can be expected to have an influence.

ISO 14001 requires that a facility undergo a rigorous internal process to develop, implement and maintain an environmental management system.
