Panolam Industries receives certification

AUBURN - Panolam Industries, Pionite Division (formerly Pioneer Plastics) received ISO 9001-2000 Certification in February.

The facility, established at its current location since 1965, houses three business units with its largest being Pionite high-pressure decorative laminates. The Resopreg division, manufactures a broad range of impregnated decorative papers and the specialty resins division designs and manufactures environmentally responsible products.

Through the adoption of ISO 9001 standards all three units are now operated under one quality management system. These standards are documented agreements containing specifications that are used consistently as rules and/or guidelines to ensure materials, products, processes and services are suitable for their purpose.

After a year of system building and training, an intensive independent audit was completed over the coarse of several days with no major findings. As a previous two-time past recipient of the Margaret Chase Smith State Quality Award, this latest achievement supports the employees commitment of continuos quality improvement and customer satisfaction.
