Re-election in mind

This is in response to Jonathan LaBonte's column, June 28.
I find it ironic, that LaBonte, an elected member of probably Maine's most dysfunctional branch of government — the county -- repeatedly implies that public policy decisions are often made with officials' re-elections in mind. Does he not think that $7 for a pack of cigarettes is not a health care policy decision?
I also find it ironic that the Diocese of Portland is publicly pleading poverty, while at the same time funding the gay marriage referendum repeal effort.

Bob, Labonte was more than likely referring to his political aspirations. You remember how he used to get the old eye roll from Pat & Norm during council sessions. (as you used to prior to running for a council seat) It should be obvious he has more in mind. As for the Catholic Diocease, they have for centuries been nothing more than a haven for pedophiles and a money laundering operation that has the 'tax exempt' status they created through corruption and intimidation.
