BANGOR (AP) - Former Colorado Sen. Gary Hart will make a swing through Maine later this week as he weighs a possible bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Hart is scheduled to speak Thursday at the University of Maine and then attend a party luncheon in Bangor. He plans to appear later in the day at Colby and Bowdoin colleges and in Portland.
Hart served 12 years in the Senate and was considered a leading prospect for the 1988 presidential nomination before his campaign got derailed by a sex scandal involving a young model.
In recent months, Hart has been speaking out on national issues while testing the waters for a presidential bid in 2004.
