Andy Valley nips Rumford

TURNER — David Buzzell blooped a single over a drawn-in infield to knock in the tying and winning run to and send Andy Valley to a 3-2 victory over Rumford  in a Zone 3 American Legion baseball game Wednesday.

Trailing 2-1 entering its final at-bat, Andy Valley got the first two batters on base with a walk and a single. A stolen base placed runners on second and third with no outa. With Rumford's infield playing in, Buzell looped a single over second base that scored Steve Rouillard and Derek Castonguay.

Rouillard finished with three singles for Andy Valley (3-3). Castonguay picked up the win in relief of Colby Youland.

Justin Staires had a double for Rumford, while Conor Blais was charged with the loss after relieving Matt Laubauskas, who injured his ankle on the base paths.
