JAY - A piece of heavy machinery hauled by a tractor-trailer truck struck a guy wire on Jay Hill on Route 4, breaking off a pole, which then hit a car traveling behind the truck.
Brian Hanson, 47, of Leeds, was driving north on Route 4 in the truck when the equipment caught on the wire and brought down the pole, which then struck a vehicle driven by Tia Keen, 23, of Buckfield, said Jay police officer Russell Adams.
The truck driver stopped at the scene and left not realizing what had happened, Adams said. Adams said he caught up with Hanson in Wilton.
The car had minor scratches to the driver's side door, Adams said, and there was damage to the truck.
