Jay launches contest for best logo, slogan

JAY - Selectmen are asking residents to use their creativity to develop a new logo and slogan to represent the town.

They've launched a town logo/slogan contest open to the whole town, in hopes that local residents could create something that's "distinctly Jay."

The creator of the winning entry will get a $100 gift certificate, savings bond or savings account. The gift certificate would be for the Jay business of his or her choice. The second place prize will $50 of the same.

Town Office Clerk Jill Gingras suggested the logo contest last year so that a new logo could include more of what the town is about.

The current logo features a paper mill in a circle logo with the words "Town of Jay, (Incorporated) Feb. 26, 1795."

The logo contest was attempted last year at the high school, but no entries were submitted.

This year's contest rules are:

• Slogan and logo will become the property of the town of Jay.

• The deadline for entry in the contest is 4 p.m. April 1.

• All Jay residents are encouraged to apply.

• All decisions are final.

• The selectmen will act as the judges.
