FARMINGTON - The driver of a vehicle involved in a head-on collision Wednesday was listed in good condition at Central Maine Medical Center Thursday. Jacqueline Tullercash, 42, of Farmington, had been taken to the Lewiston hospital by LifeFlight.

Tullercash was heading west on Wilton Road when she crossed over the center line in front of the Franklin Somerset Credit Union at roughly 6 p.m. Her 1999 Nissan sedan collided head-on with a 1998 Dodge van driven by Shirley Walker, 44, of Strong, according to Sgt. Peter Barton of the Farmington police. Also in the van were Walker's daughter Amy Walker, 20; granddaughter, Haley Walker, 2; son, Glendon Ladd, 16; and Ladd's friend Wyatt Smith, 17; all of Strong.

Shirley, Amy and Haley Walker were taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and released. Extrication devices were used to free Tullercash from her vehicle, after which she was taken to Lewiston. A dog in Tullercash's vehicle suffered no injuries and was taken home by a firefighter and returned to the family Thursday. Both vehicles were totaled.

Four-lane traffic on Wilton Road was reduced to one lane until almost 9 p.m. while police and firefighters worked to clear the scene and investigate the accident.

Barton said he spoke with Tullercash from her hospital bed Thursday, and said she expects to be released Friday. She doesn't recall much from the accident and thought she had slipped on ice, but Barton said the road was dry. He believes she was distracted and crossed over the line. She was definitely at fault, said Barton.
