Nostalgic weekend for Maine transportation museum

OWLS HEAD, Maine (AP) - Maine's Owls Head Transportation Museum is getting especially nostalgic over the July Fourth weekend.

The museum holds a Fabulous '50s, Sensational '60s Car Meet and Antique Aeroplane Show on Saturday and Sunday.

On display will be early Thunderbirds and Mustangs, classic Corvettes, Woodies and more.

Organizers say poodle skirts, bobby socks and James Dean-style jeans, leather jackets and T-shirts are welcome and encouraged.

And weather permitting, the museum's fleet of World War I-era biplanes will take to the skies.

The event is part of the midcoast area's "Festival of Independence" weekend, with activities taking place from Owls Head to Camden.
