The second biennial metal art show put on by the New England School of Metalwork of Auburn is on display through Oct. 29 at the Center for Maine Craft at the West Gardiner turnpike plaza.

Works in the "Metal: The Art of Force" exhibit have been donated by more than 25 artists from 11 states. Besides the show, there will be a silent and online auction, with proceeds benefiting the Al Pratt Memorial Scholarship Fund for students in welding and metalsmithing. Scholarship applications are available online and due by Feb. 1.

The silent auction will continue online at www.newenglandschoolofmetalwork.com through midnight Oct. 29, after which winning bidders will be notified directly. Under the direction of the Maine Crafts Association, the Center for Maine Craft includes a retail gallery for handcrafted work by Maine artisans.
