GARDINER — The wedding of Alyson Elizabeth Whiting and Ronnie William Smith was held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 8 at the First Baptist Church in Gardiner. Pastor Ted Chaffee officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Smith is the daughter of David and Vicki Whiting of Poland Spring. Mr. Smith is the son of Sharlene Norris of Sabattus and Ed and Darlene Smith of Wayne.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white strapless gown with embroidered small flowers and beads across the gown. The gown also featured a lace-up back.

A friend of the bride, Patti Gauthier, was honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Kristi Boilard and Naomi Viens, friends of the bride, Taylor Dumont, daughter of the couple, and Mary Jo Brown, sister of the bridegroom. Riley Smith, daughter of the couple, was flower girl.

Serving as best man for his friend was Frank Perkins. Ushers were Michael Jones, brother of the bridegroom, Stanley Brown, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Mathew Smith, brother of the bridegroom, and Greg Corbin, cousin of the bridegroom. Cameron Smith, son of the couple, was ring bearer.

A reception followed at the American Legion Hall in Gardiner, after which the couple traveled to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. They are residing in Monmouth.

The bride received a degree in nursing and is employed at Heritage Rehab and Living Center.

The bridegroom is a high school graduate and is employed at Hannaford Bros.
