Man charged after crashing into dump truck
WALES — A Lisbon Falls man was charged with driving under the influence of drugs Friday after police said he crashed his van into the back of a dump truck on Route 132.
Jon B. Desrosiers, 40, escaped the wreck with only minor injuries but was charged after he was examined at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Police said several motorists called 911 at about 8:30 a.m. after spotting a van being driven erratically as it traveled through three towns.
"We were getting a lot of calls from people on cell phones who observed that he was all over the road," Androscoggin County Sheriff's Sgt. James Jacques said.
Jacques said Desrosiers drove through Monmouth, Leeds and Wales and was headed south toward Sabattus when his 1992 GMC van veered to the side of the road. There, it sideswiped a parked Sterling dump truck owned by Cooper Paving of Minot.
"He basically ripped the side of his van open, "Jacques said. "The van then spun in a circle."
Debris from the wreck sailed onto a Ford pickup truck parked in a nearby driveway, a truck also owned by Cooper Paving. None of the paving crew was hurt.
Police said Desrosiers had been taking medication that's prescribed for him but that he had been taking it excessively. He was released from the hospital after he was examined.

I'm just grateful that he hit the dump truck and not a member of the paving crew
