Professor touts benefits of TABOR in Maine

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A University of Colorado economics professor says a Maine referendum that would impose limits on government spending and tax increases would give Maine's economy a boost while reining in government growth.

Speaking at a news conference Monday for the Taxpayer Bill of Rights campaign, Barry Poulson said opponents of Maine's so-called TABOR II referendum have been spreading misinformation about Colorado's version of TABOR, passed in 1992.

He said Colorado's law has limited government growth - but has not resulted in cuts in government spending - while improving the state's economy and putting money back in taxpayers' pockets.

Crystal Canney, spokeswoman for the TABOR opposition group, said Colorado's law has undermined state and local services and that TABOR would do the same in Maine.

The lopsided political

The lopsided political machine has broken Maine government for us, but the political puppet masters are benefitting from what they have created... but it's now time for us to cut the puppet strings and fix this mess!

In order to do that, people need to know the truth about TABOR. For example, why didn’t this "newspaper" cover more of the facts from yesterday's important news conference?
RELEASE: Colorado's TABOR Expert Sets the Record Straight
University of Colorado Economist Debunks Opponents' False Claims
(posted at http://www.tabornow.com/news/58/27/d,News).

In addition, the TABOR NOW Chairman (David Crocker) has hit the nail on the head in his Blog titled "Citizens Unified for Maine's Future and the SEIU's Future"
(posted at http://www.tabornow.com/blog/28/Citizens-Unified-for-Maine-s-Future-and-...). The roots of Maine's current political machine run deep and groups like SEIU and ACORN are using taxpayer dollars to push their agenda. These political games must be stopped!

Maine taxpayers deserve real tax reform, but the pro-socialism and wasteful Far Left crowds would prefer to stick with the status quo in Augusta.

Hence, please get out and vote on November 3rd. We can improve our current mess within Maine State Government, and these positive changes can begin with two simple votes:
YES on Q.2!
YES on Q.4!

This is our chance to install positive change.

First eliminate all

First eliminate all corporate welfare. Eliminating just all the TIF's will lower property tax rates by at least one third.

If its all fine and dandy,

If its all fine and dandy, why did Colorado suspend the law specifically stating that the law had dramatically forced cuts in services and schools?
