MEXICO - Florent O. "Flungo" LeBlanc, 85, of Roxbury Road, Mexico, died Tuesday, July 7, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born in Rumford, May 25, 1924, a son of August and Emma (Grenier) LeBlanc.
He attended St. Theresa's School in Mexico. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was employed for 40 years with the former Oxford Paper Co., retiring in May 1986.
He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was the founder and longtime president of the Hope Association, and most recently served as their treasurer.
He enjoyed playing pool, going to the races and playing cards.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Therese (Dupuis) LeBlanc of Mexico; his children, Vivian LeBlanc of Parker, Ariz., Jean LeBlanc and wife, Anne, of Fort Kent, Louise LeBlanc of Mexico, Francine Bernard and husband, Olin, of Rumford and Paul LeBlanc of Bristol, R.I.; a brother, Jules LeBlanc and wife, June, of Tolland, Conn.; a sister, Theresa Theriault of Rumford; five grandchildren, Jonathan LeBlanc, Loran Townsend, Trista LeBlanc, Olin Bernard Jr., and Matthew Bernard; and two great-grandchildren, Jynessa LeBlanc and Madeline LeBlanc.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Gaston LeBlanc.
