Obama: Snowe 'diligent' in her work on health care

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is praising Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe for being "extraordinarily diligent" in working with Democrats on health care reform.

Snowe says she will vote Tuesday for a Democratic health care bill. Passage of the Senate Finance Committee's bill is a foregone conclusion, but Snowe's bipartisan support is a significant boost for Obama's top legislative priority.

Obama says the finance committee has done "excellent work" in drafting a bill, and called the likely vote "another step forward" toward achieving health care reform.

denny1, from your post we

denny1, from your post we know that you don't know anything about politics or english.
Obama is a moderate pragmatist, free market supporter, moderate to conservative democrat. Just take two programs Obama has been involved in Financial Services and the Auto bailouts. Both programs fascist in nature. Both negoiated by the Bush Administration. The Financial Services Bailout was implemented by the Bush Administration. And even though the people of the US have profitted by $10,000,000,000 by doing it. The whole program was a rescue of criminals who are going to walk off with trillions in ill gotten gains and we get nothing for our efforts. The Auto Bailout was completely different because the Bush Administration did not have time to finalize an agreement. The Obama Administration negoitated a much tougher deal and again we will profit from it financially because the Obama Administration got back something for our money - ownership of the co.

This was a deft political

This was a deft political move. The vote for Republicans was a throwaway vote. The bill was going to pass if every Republican voted against it. Keeps Snowe in the game. Keeps her face above the fold in newspapers and on all the TV talk shows.
Her position of course is ridiculous. A "Trigger" to be fired if the health insurance co. fails to meet expectations. They have failed to meet expectations for 50 years and their new report says that they control pricing in the insurance market and they will set those prices where ever they want. The trigger should have been pulled several decades ago. By the way, won't a "trigger" require more legislation to fire it. More delay; more millions spent lobbying and if the Republicans gain some seats back the trigger will be gone. and 30 million Americans will be forced to buy insurance at prices approaching $40,000 per year by 2019.
The Bush Recession of 2007 demonstrates that Republican economic principles and policies are wrong. And every time they have been in power from 1928 on the same principles lead to the same recessions and depressions. They are wrong on the economy. They are wrong on "free Markets" they are wrong on Health Care.

Maine has two things to be

Maine has two things to be proud of
#1 We are second in handing out food stamps nationwide.
#2 Our beloved Senator Snowe , who is helping Obama with his socialistic agenda.

dunna, you can't elected

dunna, you can't elected your "true" Republican in Maine. Our votes are usually well informed and rational in most things. Your "true" R's are about 20-25% of the voters. That won't elect anyone except by luck. But kick her out. Please do. It will be the announcement of the Republican Party's demise.
