PARIS — A 43-year-old man remained in jail Tuesday after he was charged in connection with a heroin sale.
Greg L. Berry of Hill Street in Paris was arrested in Paris on Friday on a charge of aggravated drug trafficking. Berry was associated with Molly J. Groves, 20, of Norway Center Road in Norway, according to an affidavit by Theron Bickford of the Norway Police Department.
Groves was arrested during a traffic stop on Oct. 13 and charged with two counts of aggravated drug trafficking and possession of hypodermics. Also arrested at the stop were Josiah James Heath, 31, of Paris on one count each of aggravated drug trafficking and possession of hypodermics and Tyler O'Donnell, 20, on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Groves is charged with selling one gram of heroin to a confidential informant on two occasions in August and September. Both sales occurred within 1,000 feet of the Guy E. Rowe Elementary School.
According to his affidavit, Bickford observed Groves and Berry go into the informant's house during one sale. A hidden device recorded a male voice talking about weighing drugs, and the informant identified Berry as the person speaking.
At his initial court appearance on Monday, Judge Paul Cote set Berry's bail at $2,500 cash or $25,000 surety or a supervised bail contract to be approved by the District Attorney's Office and court.
