Challenging God

This is in response to the printed letter from Nancy Willard (Oct. 16) and other responses to my letter of Oct. 9.

First of all "reverend" belongs to God, Psalm 111:9, not to me.

I thank the "critics" for their responses to my letter. I have words for those who do not know God. In Acts 17:22-34, Paul told the people of Athens about the God that they didn't know. Paul said, "God I proclaim to you, this God who made the world and everything in it, God is Lord of heaven and earth ... He gives to all life, breath and all things. And he has made from one blood every nation of men (mankind)."

How can anyone say that religion and government are separate, when God is king of heaven and Earth?

One "critic" inferred that God made women inferior to man. I don't believe that God sees skin color or gender; He sees souls. Proverbs 31:10 says that a woman's worth is far above rubies. Females are equal to males, if not greater. A woman is made in the image of God. She is a helpmate (a helper suitable) for man. Might that be part of the problem? Man has made women unequal.

How much more are people going to challenge God?

I implore people to let go of self and let God help them answer the question. Join me in voting "yes" on Question 1.

There is no God period. If there is - prove it. Arse69 - nice avatar. Your father in Halloween dress?

Any problem that can't be solved with taxcuts, republicans pretend doesn't exist.

Can you prove that he doesn't exist?

Can you prove that there wasn't a brand new nickel in my pants pocket last spring?
I may have videotape of me putting a brand new nickel in my pocket, and it may be date stamped for last spring. Any reasonable person might look at that tape and agree that I had a brand new nickel in my pants pocket last spring.
No matter what you try, you will never have any proof that I did not.
See, you can't prove a negative.
You claim God exists, YOU have to prove it.
That is how claims of fact work.

How many religions do we have on this planet? A lot. Like, a ton. Not to mention all of those that we held BCE that have washed away. So why is it that YOURS is the right one, and we have to follow YOUR leadership?

Maybe people would respect your opinion if you just practiced your own religion and let others do as they please. As long as they are not interfering with your life (and I really can't see how to gay people getting married is), don't interfere with theirs. I mean, how big of an ego do you have to have to get righteous enough to tell me my beliefs aren't good enough?

Man is incurably religious. We are hard-wired to worship something or someone. That is why there are so many religions.

To answer your other questions:

1. Christianity in not right because I or any other believer says it is, Jesus is the one who said "I AM the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father (God) but by me."

2. In order to practice Christianity, Christians must tell others about Jesus. He instructed us to "go into all the world and preach the gospel (good news) and make disciples of all who believe."

3. Everything we do affects those around us, as what others do affects us. No man is an island. To those who believe in the sanctity of marriage, it is a dart through the heart because marriage is at the very core of God's plan and God's will for our lives. It is the first of four institutions ordained by God.

4. It's not about ego, it's just one begger telling another begger where he found bread.

"How much more are people going to challenge God?" As long as they remain the ungodly. They are out there, and they walk among us. And, in their minds, they are RIGHTEOUS.

Fear not the enemy at the gate, for it is the enemy within that will devour you.

The Pirate likes your Jokers comparison...at least the Heath Ledger Joker had a purpose of direction. The White House Joker does not have the ability to lead a flock of sheep across a deserted country road. Bear in mind, I'm being kindly here.

Very good letter. I've recently had a problem with the pastor of my church and he made it impossible to stay in that church. Because of the problem of one pastor, my faith is stronger than ever, I will forgive him, and find myself a new church . I will seek the help of God in doing this.
Just like believe in marriage: one man and one woman and will vote YES to #1.
God bless us all.
