LEWISTON — BLOU, an internationally acclaimed band from Nova Scotia known for creating an energetic and festive environment, will perform at the Franco-American Heritage Center on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The group will also play its blend of Acadian, Cajun and zydeco styles on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in Carthage and on Thursday, Oct. 29, at Unity College Performing Arts Center.

Blou's beginnings can be traced to Nova Scotia in 1994 and lead singer Patrice Boulianne's showing at Le Gala de la Chanson de la novelle-ecosse, where he won three prizes: for best song, a singer-songwriter award and the peoples choice award.

BLOU was named after an aboriginal man believed to have lived at the end of the street where Boulianne resides, L'allée des blou, some 100 years ago.

The band has won 13 international and national awards and received a gold certification for Boulianne's CD, "Tringgle." It has performed at nearly 3,000 shows in 26 countries.

Concerts will be at 7 p.m. at the Franco center and at Skye, and at 7:30 p.m. at Unity College.

Tickets for the Franco center concert are $10, $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased by calling 689-2000, online at francoamericanheritage.org or at the door; same price at Skye, call 562-4445. At Unity College Performing Arts Centers, tickets are $11 online, $10 at the door.

There will be a preshow jam at 6:15 p.m. at the Franco center and at Skye. Audience members are encouraged to bring their musical instruments and jam for a few minutes with the artists. Tickets are $5 for jammers 18 and younger.
