NPR demanding that group stop using clip in ad

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - National Public Radio is demanding that a political action committee stop using a radio clip as part of its efforts to repeal Maine's same-sex marriage law.

The group Stand for Marriage Maine began airing the ad last week on television stations and the Internet.

The ad uses audio from a 2004 NRP story titled, "Massachusetts Schools Grapple with Including Gay & Lesbian Relationships in Sex Education."

NPR Vice President Dana Davis Rehm tells the Portland Press Herald the network did not license use of the story or its content.

Rehm says NPR doesn't allow its content to be used by advocacy groups.

Stand for Marriage Maine spokesman Scott Fish says the group's legal counsel and executive committee are reviewing NPR's demand.

What is going on with Yes on

What is going on with Yes on 1 is merely denial of an addiction..."the family drunk," as Dr. Robert Minor calls it. Check it out yourself: http://www.fairnessproject.org/downloads/Bob%20Minor%20Ixa.mp3

"Religion and self-righteousness has the same function as alcohol for some people, causing them to do irrational thinking, the "high" of righteousness, and is the same high as cocaine. Think of Richard Nixon saying 'I am not a crook.'"

Minor's book addressing this is "When Religion is an Addiction." "To a religious addict, these victories at the polls are like New Year's Eve to an alcoholic."

NPR is publicly owned, taxes

NPR is publicly owned, taxes pay for it's biased programming. that should make it's programming available for public use. You have to wonder if NPR would have contended the use if the pro gay marriage advocacy group had used it in one of their ads.
"There are a lot of bad republicans; there are no good democrats." Ann Coulter

Gil is right. If public tax

Gil is right. If public tax dollars are used, then I'd say whatever they do is in the Public Domain.

Even if they do have a Copyright, the doctrine of fair use is probably applicable in this case.

gee, you're getting to be as

gee, you're getting to be as good at circular reasoning as gil, but it still isn't valid. All television shows are copy written and no rebroadcast can be made without express written permission from the show. It's the law. Oops, that's right the law doesn't apply to right wing wackos.

"Rehm says NPR doesn't allow

"Rehm says NPR doesn't allow its content to be used by advocacy groups. " I think this answers your concern about usage, it does NOT allow ANYONE to use it in an advocacy manner. And copyright laws are not eliminated just because there's some public financing. Notice the hate group will have their legal team look into it and then decide what to do. I suppose they'll get back to us in a couple of weeks or so. Which leads to the basic question, Why can't the pro hate group fight this referendum on the facts and on point? That's what people should remember.

I have a neighbor who has a Yes On 1 sign in his yard. One of this man's cherished sons uses a public internet site to post explicit, sexually demeaning things about his wife. Another neighbor who has a Yes On 1 sign in his yard was twice arrested for spousal abuse, has since divorced, and lives with a woman whom he frequently berates in public. And, he attends the local Catholic Church. Are these the family values that the opponents of marriage equality value so dearly?

And your logic is?

How about this, "Some children are abused so no children should be protected from abuse."

So besides running

So besides running inaccurate ads, this hate group abides in stealing content for its ad. Quite a group this Stand For Marriage. I guess aside from peddling hate, this group has no scruples whatsoever.

So this hate group you speak

So this hate group you speak of, when do you hold your meetings? Are you the president or just a member? And lastly are your posts actually snippets of the meeting minutes?
