Hallween Fest Friday
NORWAY — Halloween is coming to Main Street on Friday, Oct. 30.
Children and adults from everywhere are invited to participate in the Norway Halloween Fest from 2 to 5 p.m, said Deb Partridge, Parks and Recreation director.
Participants are asked to start their adventure at the Norway Memorial Library where there will be crafts, witch's brew and goblin treats, dance, storytelling by Neveah, and a scavenger hunt for those age 10 and up. Participants will also receive a list of businesses participating in the Trick or Treat on Main Street. Photos can be taken of ghosts and goblins with the three-foot high cats, ghosts and pumpkins on the library lawn. Other characters along the sidewalks will be Smokey Bear, Scooby-Doo, Dorothy and Toto, too.
Businesses on Main Street will have a pumpkin on their door if they are participating in the Trick or Treat on Main Street. To date, participating companies are the Advertiser-Democrat, Sun Journal, Café Nomad, Snips, Books N Things, Norway Savings Operations Center, Creative Media, Norway Memrorial Library, Child Development Services, Signature Salon, Norway Historical Society, Ari's, Fare Share, KeyBank, Main Street Furniture & Appliance, Village Gift Barn, Norway Police Department, Norway Fire Department, Norway Savings Bank, and Bisco Property Management. If a business in town is not listed and would like to participate, Partridge asks that she be called at 743-6651.
Join the Girl Scouts at the Town Square and dance to the "Monster Mash" and "Thriller," enjoy smoothies at the Fare Share, listen to John Governale's music at Creative Media, take a side trip to the Fire Station for games and go in the smoke trailer. Partridge said other surprises will be waiting for participants as they make their way down the one-mile stroll along Main Street.
This year's Norway Halloween Fest is sponsored by Norway Downtown, Norway Recreation Department, Norway Memorial Library, Healthy Oxford Hills and Main Street businesses with the help and participation of many other individuals and organizations.
