Woman hurt after SUV lands in pond

WILTON — A woman was injured early Friday after her sport utility vehicle left Lake Road and ended up partially submerged in Wilson Pond, near Bass Park.

Police officers Timothy Coombs and Rick Billian and firefighters responded to the 2:26 a.m. accident and found the owner of the vehicle had been helped out by a passer-by, Coombs said Friday.

Kelly St. Pierre, 20, of Wilton, was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Coombs said.

The SUV landed in 3 to 3½ feet of water, he said, and was removed from Wilson Pond by Lake Road Auto.

The accident is under investigation, Coombs said.

At that time of the morning, perhaps alcohol was involved, but considering the time of year, some form of black ice is just as likely to be the culprit.

The 20 year old is my lil sisters best friend an she is ok but as far as what happened only kelly an the cops know that. an i do not think it's right that people are putting their assumptions of alcohol on here without knowing the whole story or any of the facts about the accident. an we are very glad that kelly is okay!!!!!
