RUMFORD  — The game plan was simple and Jared Prugar help execute it as York dominated the football game at Chet Bulger field.

Prugar was a workhorse, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 201 yards, as the Wildcats blew away previously unbeaten Mountain Valley, 33-14.

York (7-1) controlled the line of scrimmage that led to a fast start. Prugar scored on the Wildcats' first three possessions, including sprinting 66 yards for a TD on the third play from scrimmage. The senior also spearheaded two long drives and ended with a pair of 2-yard TDs.

"We knew it would be a dogfight," Prugar said. "Our approach to the game was to run right at them and pound the ball. We as quite successful."

The Falcons' (7-1) slow start cost them dearly this time. A pair of three and outs plagued the offense, which were unable to solve Yorks' five linebackers. The biggest play was a 16-yard run by Matt Duka (47 yards,12 rushes) in the first half. The Falcons had taken a halftime lead. York was the last team to beat the Falcons in Rumford, 16-14 in a 2005 Campbell Conference regional championship.

The winner is guaranteed a home playoff game.

Mountain Valley drove to the York 45, but a pass by Cam Kaubris (three of seven for 45 yards) to Tyler Mason was completed and fumbled.

"This is a good win," York coach Randy Small said. "It was physical and that's why I like playing up here. After the Cape Elizabeth game, we changed everything. They beat us on three long plays."

MV coach Jim Aylward knew York was tough to beat and tried getting a better effort by the Falcons.

Mason caught a 17-yard TD pass from Kaubris in the third quarter. Chris Day ran in from the 1-yard line and Izaak Mills passed to Travis St Pierre for the conversion.

York has the highest scoring offense in Western B and scored on a Aaron Prugar 31-yard run and Dillon DellaPasqua interception return.

Two-way lineman Ryan Laubauskas was sidelined with a shoulder injury. "We did bend a little on defense," Laubauskas said, a 286-pound tackle
